Why is this so important? First, AI data indicates the Eastern Woodlands extends from the Gulf of America to west of the Mississippi River toward the Atlantic Ocean upward to Eastern Canada. The Eastern Woodlands region is a large cultural and geographical area in North American.

The region is characterized by its dense forests, numerous rivers, and distinct seasons, and was home to many Native Americans Indians/Indigenous Peoples who adapted their lives to the local environments, often relying on a combination of hunting, fishing, and agriculture.

Geographical boundaries:

  • North: The Great Lakes and Southeastern Canada

  • South: The Gulf of America and Florida

  • East: The Atlantic coast

  • West: The Mississippi River, which separates it from the Great Plains

The Native American cultures and their people are still among us. Most individuals have no idea that they may be decedents.

Which means YOU could have ancestry ties as well. If not, learn and participate, especially if you live in the regions. Become Friends of the Native American Indians of the Eastern Woodlands.
